Managing Director of OOO LANXESS

Georges Barbey was born in the French city of Nancy on December 23, 1960. After graduating from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, he began his career in 1986 in the finance department of the BASF group. Three years later he took over the position of Chief Financial Officer at BASF in Chile, and from 1994 to 1997 he was CFO at BASF Qímica Colombiana and Andean Pact states. He then moved to the polyethylene manufacturers Elenac as Chief Accountant. From 2000, when Elenac became part of the Basell group, until 2003 Barbey was in charge of Corporate Controlling. He then worked for the Central and Eastern Europe region in the Business Development business group.

In October 2007, Georges Barbey joined LANXESS AG, where his first post was as Head of the Business Development business unit in the Russia and CIS region. Since 2009 he has been Managing Director of OOO LANXESS, the newly formed country company for Russia and the Russian Federation, in Moscow.

Georges Barbey is married.
